Aqua Waikiki WAVE Hotel
Aqua Waikiki WAVE Hotel – Good, Bad, or just Noisy?
The Aqua Waikiki WAVE Hotel, Looks pretty good, as you see it in the photo here, and according to 90% of 1268 reviews left by previous guests at the time of writing, the Waikiki Wave Hotel seemed to have satisfied their needs, as they gave favourable reports. More on that a little later. But, first, let’s have a quick look at the Hotel itself.
It is not on the beachfront, but is situated in the middle of downtown Waikiki, 2299 Kuhio Avenue, Honolulu. From the Waikiki Wave Hotel, it’s just a stroll to the International market place, the Royal Hawaiian Centre, eating establishments, and shops of all sorts, and, by all accounts, would only take 5-10 minutes to walk to Waikiki beach itself, it just being a large block away.
It has 247 guestrooms and 39 extra large rooms for your comfort. The extra large rooms are to be found in the higher floors, and these appear to to be the best to book for a number of reasons. What can you expect in each room? All the usuals things are there, like a clock radio, a balcony, heavy curtains, satellite television, central air-conditioning, free high speed internet and local newspaper each day are all great bonuses for any traveller or holiday maker. Then there is a 20 inch flat screen television, all local calls are free, hair dryer, fridge, microwave, safe, just to name some more of the in room comforts.
The Aqua Waikiki Wave Hotel is a non-smoking, pet friendly, parking available at a price, facility. There are a couple of restaurants and retail shops on site too, for your convenience. Also, if walking to and around the nearby shopping centres and markets is not enough fitness for you, you can indulge in an extra workout at the in house fitness centre.
Also, on their official website, they don’t seem to advertise their pool. I may have missed it though. They do have one (at the time of writing). Here is what it looked like. Some guests have said that, to get to it, you’ll need to walk down an alley way, where people go for a smoke. Sounds a bit off-putting or seedy, doesn’t it. They also say, that around the pool area there is an ugly fence with next to no landscaping. Of course, by now they may have upgraded the pool area.
Now, if I may, I’d like to return to the positive reviews we mentioned in the first paragraph. Here are just some of the descriptive words and phrases left by happy guests.
“Nice and clean, more amenities than similar priced hotels, good value and no frills, great price and location, perfect for a family, more than adequate, 20 out of 10, best in Waikiki for the price, huge rooms, great bargain, nice refurbished room, comfortable, can’t beat it for under $100”.
Now, the other side of things, the negatives, were stated by the other 10% or, some 133, once again, this is at the time of writing. They said the following -
“Smelly room, beds uncomfortable, musty moldy odour in the room, no wheel chair access, terrible service, bed bugs, swimming pool is a disgrace, don’t stay here, rooms feel greasy, go here if you are desperate, didn’t feel safe especially after dark, prostitutes pushers and drunks and also young gang-like persons frequent the area, not safe to walk around outside, they give you complimentary ear plugs, noisy all night every night”.
One thing that seems to stand out after reading all the reviews, is the noise factor. It seems to come across as a real concern by many previous guests.
Now, even though all this sounds bad, remember that some 90%, or, some 1135 guests gave excellent reviews. So, for a cheaper than normal hotel, the Aqua Waikiki Wave Hotel, might be just for you. In fact, Aqua at this moment, are offering a 10% discount for booking right up to August 2012, so book in now at the The Aqua Waikiki Wave Hotel, for an even cheaper price. So, is it good? Is it bad? Or is it just noisy? You’ll have to be the judge of that.
